This kit includes a model of a locomotive originally produced by Robert Stephenson & Co. in Newcastle. This locomotive was transported in parts from Newcastle to Rotterdam, and from there up the Rhine to Cologne. From Cologne, it was transported overland with great difficulty to Nuremberg, where it was reassembled.
The locomotive and carriages were built from wood by local craftsmen. On 7 December 1835, Adler completed its first journey from Fürth to Nuremberg, along a line measuring 6.04 km in length.
